Hello again ann,

Problem 1:

Let x = original price

Let x - 55 = amount the mat was reduced to

Let x - .25x = amount the mat was reduced to

x - 55 = x - .25x

Solve for x.

Problem 2:

Let 89 = cost of jacket

Let 111.25 = selling price

Let 111.25 - 89 = 22.25 = the amount of markup

Let $\frac{22.25}{89}=.25=25$% = per cent of markup.

Problem 3:

Let 141.60 = cost of boots plus duty

Let 21.60 = duty

Let 141.60 - 21.60= 120 = cost of boots alone

Let $\frac{21.60}{120}=.18=18$% = per cent duty charged on the boots.

Problem 4:

Let 2650 = Kim's salary

Let x = amount of sales needed

2650 + .25x = 5000

Solve for x to get the amount he needs to sell to obtain a \$5000 monthly salary.

3. thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
