    $\displaystyle
    4x^2-17x+4
    $

    factor first.

    $\displaystyle (4x-1)(x-4)=0$

    $\displaystyle 4x-1=0 | x-4=0$

    $\displaystyle x=\frac{1}{4}$

    or
    $\displaystyle x=4$

Do you know the Quadratic formula? I suppose no so you should learn it! (You can't solve problems like this without it.)
