i was having issues with this problem
List price
Discount rate 25% , 10% , 7 1/2 %
Discount amount
Net Price 93.03
the problem was i am having trouble calculating the 7 1/2 %
PS not sure if this is right wat round saying the 93.03 is the discounted price, can't clearly tell from the question so what i've done below is how to work out the list price.
Ima do this in £'s as im british hope you don't mind.
Net Price = £93.03
1stDiscRate = 25% => 100-25 = 75%
£93.03=75%
93.03 x (100/75) = £124.12
2ndDiscRate = 10% => 100-10 = 90%
£93.03=90%
93.03 x (100/90) = £103.37
3rdDiscRate = 17.5% => 100-17.5 = 82.5%
£93.03=82.5%
93.03 x (100/82.5) = £112.76
---------------------------------------------
If you are saying the 93.03 is the list price (100%)
and you want to calculate the discount price/price before vat(17.5%)
93.03 = 100%
Find 10% = 93.03/10 = 9.303 -> Half this for 5%
5% = 9.303/2 = 4.6515 -> Half this for 2.5%
2.5% = 4.6515/2 = 2.32575
Add 10%, 5%, 2.5% to get 17.5%
9.303+4.6515+2.32575 = 16.28025 = £16.28
This is discount just take this from full price
93.03 - 16.28 = £76.75 Discounted Price/Excluding VAT
