Thread: 2 more word problems plus a bonus :-)

1) Admission to an amusement park is $8 for adults and $5 for childrens. If $201 was paid for 33 tickets, how many of each were purchased?

2) One number is 3 less than twice another number. If the sum of the two numbers is 330, findthe two numbers.

bonus:

if -1/3x +7 = 16, what is the value of 2x+1?

Let x = number of adult tickets
and y = number of child tickets.

Total tickets, x + y = 33 ....................(1)

total money paid,

8x + 5y = 201 ...................................(2)

solve these two eqns and finish.

First number = x

other number = 2x - 3

their sum,

x + 2x - 3 = 330
