    alg 1 ratio

    the ratio of raisins to nuts in a mixture containing 3 cups raisins and 1 1/4 cups nuts

    12 to 5 (just multiply each number by 4)

    Just to add a bit to the previous poster's response....

    \frac{raisins}{nuts}=\dfrac{3}{1 \frac{1}{4}}=\dfrac{3}{\frac{5}{4}}=3 \cdot \frac{4}{5}=\frac{12}{5}
