1. ## Can anybody give me a hint on how to solve these?

I need help getting started with these equations...pretty much stuck! I need to solve for x. Thanks!

1.
$(x^2+4x+10)^2-7(x^2+4x+11)+7<0$

2.
$\sqrt{1/{x^2}-3/{4}}<1/{x}-1/{2}$

Thank you!

1.
$(x^2+4x+10)^2-7(x^2+4x+11)+7<0$

First simplify:
x^4+4x^2+10^2-7x^2+28x+77+7<0
x^4-3x^2+28x+184<0

Then don't you just do it the same way you would with an equal sign only you flip the sign around, so it looks something like...
x^4-3x^2+28x>-184
...and so on dividing by 28 and then taking the square root etc.

3. Thanks for the help, but I think it's...

$(x^2+4x+10)(x^2+4x+10)-7(x^2+4x+11)+7<0$
$x^4+8x^3+29x^2+52x+30<0$

4. Oh true. The second part would still be the same though. You still need to multiply that second set by 7 and then just solve like you normally would.

5. i think its x4 +16x2+100-7x2+28x+77+7<0

thats all i know sorry

You mean I would have to multiply

$x^4+8x^3+29x^2+52x+30$ by 7?
