    solve for x...

    3/4x + 1/4 = 1/4x

    Hello!
    Here is what I get:


    \frac{3}{4}x + \frac{1}{4} = \frac{1}{4}x

    \frac{1}{4} = \frac{1}{4}x - \frac{3}{4}x

    *factor out the x

    \frac{1}{4} = x(\frac{1}{4} - \frac{3}{4})

    *add your fractions

    \frac{1}{4} = x(-\frac{1}{2})


    x = \frac{\frac{1}{4}}{-\frac{1}{2}}

    *multiply the top by the reciprocal of the bottom

    x = \frac{1}{4} \cdot -\frac{2}{1} = -\frac{1}{2}

    okay!

    that makes sense... for whatever reason... I kept getting -1/4...
