Thread: Percentage to Ratio?

Hi all, I came across a question that I was rather unsure about. I was presented with a pie chart and it asked me to provide the ratio of the number of people playing Tennis, Football and Badmington against all the sports available.

I worked this out by adding the percentage values of Tennis, Football and Badmington which gave me 50%. The total was 100% so the ration would be 50:100 (or this could be 1:2) but the answer was 5:1. How did they get this as the answer?

If you need more information I could try getting posting the original question if you like. There was a total of 6 sports.

You are right : 50% of budget is devoted to football, tennis and table tennis
But only 10% for squash

Therefore the ratio of budget devoted to football, tennis and table tennisn to squash is 50%:10% = 5:1
