    Here is the problem..

    Robinson Wholesale Company paid $1340 for 500 items. Later they bought 800 items for $1760. Assume that the cost is a linear cost function of the number of items.
    Write the equation..

    Thank you for any help you may provide! I am clueless with this stuff!!

    <br />
1760 = 800k<br />
    <br />
1340 = 500k<br />

    <br />
800k - 500k= 1760 - 1340<br />

    <br />
300k = 420<br />

    <br />
k = \frac {420}{300} = \frac{7}{5}<br />

    <br />
y = kx +n = \frac {7}{5}x + 0 = \frac {7}{5}x<br />

    x = items bought
    k = koeficient (or cost of 1 item)
    y = cost
