Can anyone help me understand formula manipulation I am an Ordinary Level Student, and my final exams are in January. I have given my e-mail adresse of yahoo and msn both so please mail me if you can let me understand formula manipulation very good.

As stated, the problem is $(-9)^2 = (-9)(-9) = 81$.

However, have some care because $-9^2 = -9 \cdot 9 = -81$. The difference is that this one does not include squaring the negative sign, so the problem statement must be read carefully.
