$\displaystyle \sqrt{8}=\sqrt{4\times2}=\sqrt{4}\times\sqrt{2}=2\ sqrt{2}$

So the ratio can be re-expressed:

$\displaystyle \sqrt{2}:\sqrt{8}$

$\displaystyle =\sqrt{2}:2\sqrt{2}$

$\displaystyle =1:2$

So we need to £6705 into 3 portions...

£6705 into 3 is £2235 in each portion

So dividing £6705 into a ratio of 1:2 would mean:

£2235:£4470 - Jan 20th 2009, 04:57 AMsumit2009
