    unique solution

    For what values of k will the pair of equations 3x+4y=12 and kx+12y=30 does not have a unique solution .

    Multiply the first equation by 3 and then eliminate the y's.

    You should find that (9-k)x=6.


    For which value of k will make this equation nonsense?
