See if you can follow the example here: Tips on factoring, a not equal to 1

The process is exactly the same for any quadratic.

$(x-8)(x+2)$ you can check by foiling
$x^2+2x-8x-16=x^2-6x-16$
$x-8=0$ and $x+2=0$
$x=8$ and $x=-2$ is the solution
