Help please... 47.40 is 60% of?
I'm taking math this semester in college basic math obviously. However I'm having trouble with percents. I know that 0.60 is equal to 60% and 75% is written as 0.75 but I have a question like the following:

47.40 is 60% of and can't seem to figure out how to solve this problem :(

If 47.40 is sixty percent of something, how much is ten percent? (Hint: Divide.)

Then how much is 100%? (Hint: Multiply.)

Have fun! :D

Usually, you want to know the percentage that one part of a whole is compared to the whole.
$\% = \frac{\text{part of a whole}}{\text{whole}}$ That tells you : If the whole ensemble would be 100 elements then this part would represent x of these.
$\frac{60}{100}=\frac{47,67}{x}$Can you find x?

Yet a third way: "60% of" means "0.6 times".

"47.40 is 60% of what number" is the same as 47.40= 0.6x. solve that for x by dividing both sides of the equation by 0.6.
