    Is that \frac{6 - 2}{5 - 8} ?

    If so, just do the subtractions and take the minus sign to the top to get -\frac{4}{3}

    Or 6 - \frac{2}{5} - 8?

    Put it all over a common denominator:

    6 - \frac{2}{5} - 8 = \frac{30 - 2 - 40}{5} = -\frac{12}{5}

    What you have posted is ambiguous. Is it:

    (6-2)/(5-8)

    6-(2/5)-8

    6-[2/(5-8)]

    etc.
