5th Grade Algebra Help
Hi, I'm hoping someone can help a math illiterate mom!(Hi)
I'm trying to help my son with an 'Input/Output' problem, and we're stuck on the last problem! The table has most of the problems solved, but they are making no sense to me. They have:
Input/Output
0/-8
3/4
34/128
50/192
10/
100/
I'm not looking for the answers, just help on what expression they're using to get these. I'm lost! Thanks so much in advance!

Hi,

See what happens if you try and fit the outputs to a linear function and solve it as a simultaneous equation.

For example, using the second and third inputs/outputs

3n + c = 4
34n + c = 128

I'm so sorry, that was like latin to me. I don't think they are that far. They are just beginning algebra and all the other expressions are VERY simple like 6n+4

Ah, I apologise.

They appear to be multiplying the input by 4 and then subtracting 8.
