    Exclamation Direct variation

    y varies directly as (x+5) and f(2)=3. Set up the Equation

    y varies directly as (x+5)
    translates to the equation y = k(x+5) , where k is the constant of proportionality

    use f(2) = 3 to find k ...

    3 = k(2+5)

    k = \frac{3}{7}

    so, the function is y = \frac{3}{7}(x+5)
