# Thread: I hate these problems

1. ## I hate these problems

If it takes 7 women 3 hours to bake 24 dozen cookies, how long will it 2 women to bake 24 dozen cookies? Thanks Happy New Year! I can never remember how to solve these any help to remember is greatly appricated also. Thanks again

note that both jobs are the same.

1 woman does 1/7 of the job in 3 hrs, which means it would take 1 woman 21 hrs to do the job.

so, 2 women would take half that time ... 10.5 hrs

Or, much the same thing: There are 2/7 as many women and this is an "inverse" variation- the more people, the shorter the time, so we divide by 2/7. 3 divided by 2/7 is 3 times 7/2= 21/2= 10.5 hours.
