Natasha, I hate to say so, but you really could do a lot of these by hand. Calculators are used for convenience, but if you can't do arithmatic by hand you are probably missing out on understanding the concepts behind basic math.

Anyway,

1. 7105 Soil
2. 5317.34 He lies
3. 0.40404 HoHoHo
4. 5993 eggs
5. 90439034 Hedge Hog

I agree with Jameson. Really it can be done manually without help of calculators.

Hello, Natasha1!

There must be some typos . . . a few of them don't spell anything.

Quote:

2) .19 x 20 x 14 – 2.66 . . If he is not standing up

5317.34 . = ."he lies"
Code:

          _ .        _  _       |_  |_  |  | |_ |_       | | |_  |_| | |_  _|
Quote:

3) .0.01443 x 7 x 4 . . Father Christmas says this!

0.40404 . = . "hohoho"
Code:

          _      _    . _       |_  | | |_  | | |_  | |       | | |_| | | |_| | | |_|

6. 11384.5 x 40 – 1.991 Say this after sneezing

7. 5,308,418 - 2 + 1929 unhappy ending

8. (9999 + 319) + (8.47 + 2.53) what people do if they need money

9. 1962 – 627 + 29 Religious book (bible)

10. 7420 x 7422 + 1182 – 30 The person in charge

I can't see what a lot of them "say". You can figure that non-math part out ;) .

6.) 455,378

7.) 5,310,345

8.) 10,329

9.) 1,364

10.) 55,072,392

You'll see in time that it is actually faster to do these in your head (or by hand), that it is to use a calculator. Try do them without a calculator, at first, and then check your results with a calculator.

6.) 455,378 (blessh)

7.) 5,310,345 (sheoies)

8.) 10,329 (gzeoi)

9.) 1,364 (hgei)

10.) 55,072,392 (zgezloee)

That's how *I* see the wording (in parentheses), although obviously something is wrong :o .

Hello again, Natasha!

If you are reading any of our responses, please give us the corrected problems.

I have issues with a number of concepts used here . . .

Quote:

$4)\;9 \times 9 \times 9 \times 9 - 8 \times 71$ . Nice with bacon (eggs)
$5993\;=\;\text{eggs}$
Code:

      _  _  _  _       |_ |_  |_  |_       |_ |_| |_|  _|

They seem to think that an inverted "9" looks like "G".

Why don't they use an inverted 6, which looks like "g"?
Code:

      _  _  _  _       |_ |_| |_| |_       |_  _|  _|  _|

Quote:

$6)\;\;11384.5 \times 40 - 1.991$ . Say this after sneezing
$455378.009\;=\;\text{what?}$
Code:

      _  _  _  _      _  _  _       |_  | | | |'|_| |  |_ |_ |_  |_       |_| |_| |_| |_| |_| |_  _| _| | |

They use "0" (zero) to represent both "O" and "D" . . . annoying!
And what about that final "h"?

Quote:

$7)\;\;5,308,418 - 2 + 1929$ . unhappy ending
$5310345 = \text{she dies}$
Code:

      _      _  _    _  _       |_  |_  |_  | | | |_ |_       _| | | |_  |_| | |_  _|

Quote:

$8(\;\;(9999 + 319) + (8.47 + 2.53)$ .what people do if they need money
$10329 =\:???$

Quote:

$9)\;\;1962 - 627 + 29$ . Religious book (bible)

But BIBLE would come from $37818$ . . . not $1364.$

Quote:

$10)\;\;7420 \times 7422 + 1182 - 30$ . The person in charge
$55073032 = ???$

I suppose, then, that they use 6 and 9 to both mean g (G), too, just as they use 0 to mean o (O) and D.
