    Unhappy Help! Word Problems!!

    2. Cloie was looking for four-leaf clovers. She was able to find three of them in a very small square patch of clover measuring 18inches on each side.Based on the patch, how many four-leaf clovers would she expect to find in her backyard of clover that measures 30feet by 45 feet?

5.Angela knew that blowing out all five of the candles on her birthday cake in one breath would bring her good luck and ensure that her birthday wish would come true. Unfortunately, three of Angel's five candles were still lit after she tried to blow them all out with her first breath. How many different sets of three candles could have been left burning after her first attempt?

7.Carl saw a penny on the sidewalk that was "heads-up", so he knew it would be good luck to pick it up. Then he saw that the year on it was multiple of 13, so he put the unlucky penny backdown. After a couple of seconds, though, he realized the year was also a multiple of the lucky 7, so it became lucky again and he picked it back up.If the year on the penny was in the 20th century, what was the year on the penny?

    2) Know what to do but can't get answer, as I'm not familiar with the imperial measurement system

    5) There are 5 candles, and the number of combinations of 3 candles is given by 5\choose 3 which gives 10.

    7) We want a number between 1900 and 2000 that is a multiple of 7 and 13. Start with 7x13 = 91. Times by 20 = 1820.
So we know 1820 is divisible by 7 and 13. We also know 91 is. So 1820 + 91 = 1911. This is the answer we want.

OK, just searched internet and found 12inches = 1ft.

    So she finds 3 clovers in 1.5ft * 1.5ft area = 2.25 sq ft.

Her yard is 45 ft* 30 ft = 1350 sq ft.

She could expect to find 1350/2.25 * 3 = 1800 clovers in her yard (solve using ratios)

    Hey Nzmathman

I can convert it to metric if u need me to.

    35 feet = 9.14400 Meters
    45 feet = 13.7160 Meters
    18 inches = .45720 Meters or 457.200 Millimeters

    Thanks for all your help
