    Polynomial functions

This is probably easy but how do you solve this?

    x*4 - 7x*2 + 4 = 0

And if you have the answer I would like to know what it is

    Thanks

    i suppose you mean x^4 - 7x^2 + 4 = 0?

    Here's a hint: note that this is the same as (x^2)^2 - 7(x^2) + 4 = 0

now let y = x^2, then we have

    y^2 - 7y + 4 = 0

this is a quadratic equation, which is easier for you to solve (hopefully). now find y. when you do, you can find x
