    How do I solve when A fraction is involved?

    w - 2w 1/2 - 15 = 0

    Treat the fraction as any other constant, except if your equation is:

    w-2w\frac{1}{2}-15=0

    then it's false since:

    w-2w\frac{1}{2}-15=0

    w-w-15=0

    -15=0

    which is obviously not true.
