How do I solve when A fraction is involved?

Treat the fraction as any other constant, except if your equation is:

$w-2w\frac{1}{2}-15=0$

then it's false since:

$w-2w\frac{1}{2}-15=0$

$w-w-15=0$

$-15=0$

which is obviously not true.
