I can't seem to figure out the pattern in this:
1001, 502, 254, 110, __, __

neither could I, this was definitely not one to "guess" at ... I got a cubic regression to fit the data using my calculator.

Yea, I tried that too.

But wouldn't you put 1001, 502, 254 in list 1 and 502, 254, and 110 in list 2 because if y=pattern
then y(1001)=502, y(502)=254, and y(254)=110?

Apparently...the pattern was lacking some numbers...but I still can't figure out the new pattern
