Squares of side length x cm are cut out of the corners of a rectangular piece of cardboard of size 16 cm by 12 cm. The cardboard is then used to make an open rectangular box.

If x = 2, what is the length, width and height of the box?

Try answering the following slightly re-worded question:

Squares of side length 2 cm are cut out of the corners of a rectangular piece of cardboard of size 16 cm by 12 cm. The cardboard is then used to make an open rectangular box.

What is the length, width and height of the box?
