hi i got this question. 34%of 90 i know the answers 30.6 but i need to know how to work it out i have done
10%of 90 = 9
9times 3 = 27
9 divided by 2 = 4.5
from then on im stuck can you help, if so post please thanks

vocabulary:

"percent" means "over 100" or "out of 100"

thus, 34% means 34/100 or 0.34

in math, "of" usually means "multiply"

"is" means "equal"


thus, putting it all together:

"34% of 90 is" translates to 0.34 * 90 = ...

34% of 90 is the same as saying 0.34 lots of 90

100% of 90 is 90 (90 x 1)
50% of 90 is 45 (90 x .5)
34% of 90 is 30.6 (90 x .34)
