    Determine whether the equation is a linear equation..Help!

    1. $\displaystyle \frac{x}{2} = 10 + \frac{2y}{3}$

    2. $\displaystyle 7n - 8m = 4 - 2m$

    I guess both are linear, because

    $\displaystyle \frac{x}{2} = 10 + \frac{2y}{3}$

    $\displaystyle y = \frac{3}{2}(\frac{x}{2}-10)$

    and

    $\displaystyle 7n - 8m = 4 - 2m$

    6m = 4 - 7n

    $\displaystyle m = \frac{4-7n}{6} $

    This is a straight line, too
