    percent increase

My math question is about finding the percent of increase between two
    numbers.

There were 45 students in the sixth grade in 1995. In 2005 there were 87 students in the sixth grade. What was the percent increase of students over the 10 year period?

    Where do I begin?

    The percent increase is usually

    (New amount) - (Old amount)
    ----------------------------- * 100%
    (Old amount)

    87-45
    ------ * 100% = 93.33 .. %
    45
