    Adding properties of logs

    log4 2+ log4 8=?

    The logarithms have the same base. Therefore you can use the property:

    \log_b(x)+\log_b(y)=\log_b(x \cdot y)

    With your question you have:

    \log_4(2)+\log_4(8)=\log_4(2 \cdot 8) = \log_4(16) = \log_4(4^2) = 2
