    Question Explanation required for a math problem

    6 people participated in a bowling tournament. Each participant played exactly 3 games with each of the other participants. How many ames were played in all?

    I was told the answer was 45. Is this correct? I couldn't figure out how to do the problem. Thank you in advance.

    Heres how u work it out. the 1 through 6 are the players and the 3's are the times they played with each person. after u right down the how to do, add all the threas for ur answer

    1+2=3
    1+3=3
    1+4=3
    1+5=3
    1+6=3

    2+3=3
    2+4=3
    2+5=3
    2+6=3

    3+4=3
    3+5=3
    3+6=3

    4+5=3
    4+6=3

    5+6=3

    so yes its 45

    Thanks for showing me

    how to do it with the numbers. I had used alphabet letters a+b = 3 a+c = 3 type thing, but somewhere along the line, it didn't work out. Using the numbers is something I will remember for next time.
