    ratio

I am taking a Basic College Math course, and am stuck on a simple ratio.

It is 4 1/3 feet to 5 2/3 feet. They want me to write in simplest form and expres the answer as a fraction. Do I have to convert the mixed number to a decimal first? The examples they give are like 36 feet to 40 feet which would be 36/40 or or 9/10. Now they threw in the mixed number to make it confusing! Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

change both mixed numbers to improper fractions ...

    4 1/3 = 13/3

    5 2/3 = 17/3

    (13/3)/(17/3) = 13/17
