    Multi-step equations

    Hello. I can't seem to figure out this problem.

    4n - 2 + 7n = 20


    Also, could you please list the steps.

    Solution of equation

    Step 1: Collect together the like terms of 4n and +7n to give: 11n-2 = 20.

    Step 2: + 2 to both sides to get rid of the -2 on the same side of the n, leaving 11n=22.

    Step 3: Divide both sides by 11, which leaves just a single n, namely n=2, which is the solution.
