(2/5)(5a) + (2/5)(35) - 8 = 12

2a + 2*7 - 8 = 12

2a + 14 - 8 = 12

2a + 6 = 12

2a + 6 + (-6) = 12 + (-6)

2a = 6

2a/2 = 6/2

a = 3

2x + 3x + 3*4 = -8

5x + 12 = -8

5x + 12 + (-12) = -8 + (-12)

5x = -20

5x/5 = -20/5

x = -4

are you sure it's not meant to be 2/(5(5a+35))

Although maybe that's just too farfetched...
I NEED LATEX!!!!!!!

Can I assume this is (-4/7)a = -28?

Then
7(-4/7)a = 7*(-28)

(-4)a = 7*(-28)

(-4)a/(-4) = 7*(-28)/(-4)

a = 7*(7) = 49

-Dan

Or:
(-4/7)a = -28

(-7/4)(-4/7)a = (-7/4)(-28)

a = -7*(-7) = 49

:) I have a "KISS" for you, Quick. As my Daddy taught me:
Keep
It
Simple
Stupid.

It could be that complicated, but odds are it's simple. If not, they'll let me know, I'm sure.
