this is a pretty basic question but it didnt have the answer in the back of the book and i want to make sure i got it correct

Preform the operations indicated: (addition of polynomials)

(2x^2 + 12xy -11) + (6x^2 - 2x + 4) + (-x^2 - y - 2)
= (8x^2 + 12xy - 2x - 7) + (-x^2 - y - 2)
= 7x^2 + 12 xy - 2x - y - 9

is that correct? because you can make the origional line:
(2x^2 + 12xy + 0y + 0x -11) +
(6x^2 + 0xy + 0y - 2x + 4) +
(-x^2 + 0xy - y + 0x - 2)
??
