6(x-24)=12 answer is 26 but how do I get it
6(x-24)=12
Do you remember how to distribute with multiplication? When you come across something like 6(x-24), you have to distribute, which means you are going to multiply each number in the parentheses by the one outside of them (6) and add those two products. So, what you are really doing in this problem is:
6(x) + 6(-24) = 12
Once you get that, you simplify the problem
6x - 144 = 12
Add 144 to both sides
6x = 156
Divide by six
x = 26
I hope that helped you!
