    Algebraic Expression

    ok so i have the option to do test corrections so i can pass this six weeks. but i dont understand how to do 5x + x + 10w-w i dont know if adding the two x's would be x2 and sense there is a number infront of the first X i dont think it can be x2. so how would i figure out how to work this problem? i think i have the W part down considering i take away the W.

    note that there is a "number" in front of x ... it's 1.

    1x and x are the same thing ... the 1 is not written because it is generally understood that just writing x means 1x.

    for the x's ... let x = an apple

    5 apples + 1 apple = ?

    6 apples, or 5 apples squared?

    let w = a banana

    10 bananas - 1 banana = how many bananas?
