Fractional indicies question

I have become stuck on the following equation which i have to solve as part of my homework:



According to the answer book the two solutions are 1 and -27, so it must turn out to be quadratic. However, i can't figure out how to get there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Use the substitution y= x^(1/3) and subsitute it in ur equation, hope it helps
