    a quadratic equation

    A rectangle is 9 times as long as it is wide. If the area is 441 feet, find its perimeter.

    Ok, I know that it is 9 times as long as it is wide, so there is going to be a 9x. My area is 441 ft. I believe the formula for area is l time w. I do not have either of these. but there are 4 sides to a rectangle, so I am going to be either dividing by 4 or by 2 since we are trying to get its width. I don't understand how I am supposed to set this up as a problem though. Can anyone provide me some assistance?

    let w = rectangle's width
    9w = rectangle's length

    A = (9w)(w) = 9w^2

    9w^2 = 441

    solve for w, then find the perimeter.

    P = 2(w + 9w) = 20w
