# Math Help - factor

1. ## factor

Find the value of P and q if 4x²-4x-3 is a factor of the expression 8x^4+px³+qx²+x+3.

The factor of it thta that get frm 4x²-4x-3 is (x-3/2)(x+1/2)
so i sub in as 8(3/2)^4+p(3/2)^3....
and 8(-1/2)^4...
then i get 3(3/8)p+2(1/4)q=-45 and (-1/8)p+(1/4)q=-3
then i sub and got p=-4. however theans was p=-12 and q=-6. i did again and again but could not the the ans. can anyone kindly help me?

did you get the correct faqctorization?

$x = \frac{4 \pm \sqrt{16+48}}{8}$

..yeah you are right..

try to write your complete solution..
