If the water is a 5% solution by weight, then you have 2.5 lbs of salt in the solution. So in order for 2.5 lbs to be 8% instead of 5%, you need the solution to be 92% water. Regardless of what the actual numbers are, this puts the water/salt ratio at 92/8, or 23/2. So how many pounds of water are there?
