Quadratic equation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

For any quadratic equation, in the form ax^2+bx+c = 0, it has root(s):

(-b +/- (b^2 - 4ac)^0.5) / 4a

Therefore we take your equation, express it so it's equal to zero:

4x^2 - 7x + 2 = 0

Then it's plug-and-play with the quadratic formula:

(7 +/- (49 - 4(4)(2))^0.5) / 4(4)

= (7 +/- (33)^0.5) / 16
