$\displaystyle \ln(3x+1) + \ln(x) = \ln(2)$

$\displaystyle \ln[(3x+1)x] = \ln(2)$

if $\displaystyle \ln(a) = \ln(b)$ , then $\displaystyle a = b$.

$\displaystyle (3x+1)x = 2$
