1. ## Statistics, need help in Probabilities

Joe Smith batted .347 in 2007. So assume the probability of getting a hit is .347 for each time he batted. In a particular game he batted three times.

a. This is an example of what type of probability?

b. What is the probability of not getting any hits in a game?

c. What is the probability of getting at least one hit?

If you know the answer to a. you should be able to do b. and c.

Let X be the random variable number of hits each time he bats.
X ~ Binomial(n = 3, p = 0.347) (why?).

b. Find Pr(X = 0).

c. Find $\displaystyle \Pr(X \geq 1) = 1 - \Pr(X = 0)$.
