    % problem

    Kunte is negotiating to buy a used car. The listed price is $4000. Kunte offers 10% less than the listed price. The owner counters with a price 10% greater than Kunte’s offer. What is the owner’s counteroffer

    Kunte's offer:

    $\displaystyle 4000-.1(4000)=3600$

    The owner's counteroffer:

    $\displaystyle 3600+.1(3600)=3960$

    Kunte's offer = $\displaystyle listed \;\;price - \frac{10}{100} \times {listed\;\; price}$

    $\displaystyle = 4000- \frac {10}{100}(4000)$

    = $3600

    Owner's offer $\displaystyle = 3600+ \frac {10}{100}(3600)$

    = $3960
