25 plus 14 percent of what?

14 percent by itself isn't significant.

If its 25 plus 14 percent of 25, then we have $25+.14(25)=25+3.5=28.5$, which is the answer the other board gave you.

I hope this clarifies things.

3. basically the problem is to take the number 25 and Then add 14% to it

5. If we answer directly at the problem, we have to add 14%, that is 14/100=0.14.

If on the other hand the real problem is "25 is increased by 14%", it's more likely to be 14% of 25.

6. ## increasing any number by a percent

to get 25 plus 100% would be 50, no brainer
25 plus 50% would be 25/2 or 25 * .5 = 12.5 right then you would add it to the 25

so the best or quickest calc is

25 * 1.14 =

Exactly what I would do. Adding 14% is the same as multiplying by 114, since at the end you will have 100% and 14%.

To multiply by 114% use 1.14*25
