(6.98X6.98-2.02x2.02)/4.96 ~= (7x7-2x2)/5=7
so the answer is approximatly 7, so 6.76 should be the correct answer if there is one in the list.

Sorry, but (7^2-2^2) /5=9.

I think 9 is the correct answer:
6.98^2-2.02^2=(6.98+2.02)(6.98-2.02).
Use the calculator if you are not sure.

Bye.

4. Hello, devi!

$\frac{(6.98 \times 6.98)-(2.02\times2.02)}{4.96} \;=$ . . $(a)\;9 \qquad(b)\;4.96\qquad(c)\;3.72\qquad[d)\;6.76$

I got 9 as the answer .
. . . Right!
but it was given that 6.76 is the answer .
. . . They're wrong!

I have no idea where they got 6.76 !

$\frac{6.98^2 - 2.02^2}{4.96} \:=\:\frac{48.7204 - 4.0804}{4.96} \:=\:\frac{44.64}{4.96} \;=\;9$

$\frac{6.98^2 - 2.02^2}{4.96} \:=\:\frac{(6.98 + 2.02)(6.98-2.02)}{4.96} \:=\:\frac{(9)(4.96)}{4.96} \;=\;9$

The answer is: . ${\color{blue}(a)\;9}$

5. ## someone goofed

The answer has to be around 9

(7*7-2*2)/5
(49-4)/5
(45)/5
9
