Thread: Factorising Quadratics

Can someone please show me a worked example of this:

-xsquared - 4x + 96

here is what I've done:

-xsquared - 4x + 96
-(xsquared + 4x - 96)
-(xsquared + 12x - 8x - 96)
-(x(x + 12) -8(x + 12))
-(x - 8)(x + 12)

Can someone tell me where I have gone wrong. Soz, if it is a bit hard to interpret I don't know how to use Latex.

it is rightly done.. if you are not sure after factoring, try multiplying it and see if it gives you the original statement.
