My questions are as follows:
1. Determine the ninth term of (x - 1/x^1/2)^12
2. Determine the first four terms in the expansion of: root(1 + x/2)

These questions are not quite reasonable. There may be two answers to each. There is no convention concerning which term goes first.

You can be expected to know the Binomial Expansion, both for integers and for non-integers.
