1. ## precentages

I have been trying for hours to solve this and can't figure it out!

114 000 + 26 000
26 000 + 40 000
1-48%

I can't even resolve it with my calculator?

I've been starting with the 40 000/1-48% going to 40 000/1-0.48
then 40 000/0.52 = 76923.07692 which is where I get in trouble. This can't be right?

Please help ASAP as I have to turn this in pretty soon, and it's the last one I can't figure out!

Why can't it be right? :-)

114 000 + 26 000
26 000 + 76923.07692

140000
102923.0769

= 1.360239163 = 910/669

3. Just because all the other answer of the homework were simpler, but this might be it.

How did you get 910/669?

4. 114 000 + 26 000
26 000 + 40 000
..............1-0.48

Let's take the nested fraction and deal with it separately

40000
....0.52

= 4000000
.......52

Now reduce to lowest terms:

1000000
.......13

Put it back where it belongs now:
114 000 + 26 000
26 000 + 1000000
................13

Combine 26000 with the fraction (and add up the numerator on your way too)
140000
1338000
13

This is actually equal to:

140000 x (13/1338000)

1820000/1338000

= 1820/1338

Reduce to lowest terms:

910/669

5. Thank you so much. I'm moving into more advance algebra, I hope you'll still be there to help me out, as I'm sure to run into some problem there.

I'm taking this math class so that I can start my business certificate (and eventually get a University diploma). I haven't done math in 20 years, I used to be pretty good at it, but 20 years do make a difference. Hopefully, whatever brain cell are in charge of math, they'll wake up and get busy again!

Have a great week!
