    x-y+xy-x

    Rearrange this :

    =x+xy-x-y

    =x(x+y)-(x+y)

    =(x+y)(x-1)

Does it look clear to you ?

    Recall the identity (x+y)=x+2xy+y

    9a+12ab+4b=(3a)+2*(6ab)+(2b)
